Dominique ROUSSERIE
Press / Text / Bio / Link

With over 75 solo exhibitions, Dominique Rousserie’s art is represented by worldwide museums and foundations. Rousserie travelled the globe by sail boat, a floating art studio in itself finding inspiration along his epic journey. His deep interest in primitivism, ancient signs and spiritual belief systems led to collaborations with artists, shamans and healers in Africa, Europe, India, South and North America. Studies of prehistoric art, hallucinogenic plants and contemporary animism form the foundation of Rousserie's paintings that evolved into a very personal symbolism, venturing beyond postmodern relativism, in search for a universal truth that truly represents the notion of the postcolonial and globalized world of today.
